Historical Backgrounds

2013, Tautoro School worked towards becoming a e-learning digital school. This is called Future Focused Learning. The governance, management and staff prepared themselves by going to digital schools, meetings and professional develop courses, so that they could prepare themselves to become digital teachers for their digital students. Part of the digital learning, is that Tautoro School became part of a LCN group. That meant we had to work with the Ministry of Education.

Mrs Paraha has to put together a review for the Ministry, where she has to explain, Has e-learning or Future Focused learning with our chromebooks, helped to improve student achievement.

Purpose: To inform our Ministry of Education, that future focused learning has made a big difference to how we learn which has helped us to achieve in our learning.

WALT: write an annotated report about the learning that took place in my classroom and how the learning helped me to become a successful student.

Presenting: you are to video yourself presenting your report and post it onto your blog.

1. Each student must write a reflection about what future focused learning took place in rm 6 (200-300 words). Break this part into 4 paragraphs if you want; Term 1, Term 2, Term 3, Term 4. Events must be sequential.
2. Explain what achievements have been made in reading, writing and maths.
3. Plan how you are going to present this information. Who are the students who will help you to present your information. Discuss this with your friends and whanau as they might have some ideas with this.
4. Organise what equipment you need. i.e apps, ipads, area to film in.
5. Organise with your teacher your filming day.

Part One: Explain to me what learning took place and why was it interesting and different from your other classes. (previous years)

• Chromebook, folders, sites - where we see our lessons and extra support resources, typing lessons,
• Blogging
• Programmes - Sumdog, Mangahigh
• Video and movie making
• Teacher, Teacher Aide, Parents, Experts on lines, google search, buddies
• We can work before class, during class, after class at home.
• Set personal goals.
• Able to access knowledge

Part Two: Explain to me how you know if you have made progress in sxs-writing, reading and maths. Who has informed you? How did they inform you?

• Greater work output
• You enjoy your school work because it’s interesting and different.
• Writing - Class work, Writing Samples
• Reading - STAR, Running Records, e-asTTle reading tests, reading out loud and noticing improvements in fluency.
• Maths -  PAT Maths, e-asTTle maths tests, IKAN, Gloss

Annotated Reflection

In the past few years I have found out that writing with a pencil and a book was hard for me because whenever I wrote It was untidy and my work wasn’t great. When people read my writing they couldn’t understand me because my work and ideas were confusing.

This year I have noticed that my educational lessons with the Future Focused Learning has helped me to become a better student. Every day I use my digital device to write on, to read with and even compute maths questions faster. I like working with digital devices because it is fun and because it is fun I focus on my work; and because I am focusing on my work my grades are improving.

Something else interesting that has appeared in our digital devices is that we have a blog which allows us to post our work and to let everyone know how my learning has been going. Here is our school blog here at: http://room6tautoroschool.blogspot.co.nz/

We have been communicating in our learning on Chromebooks and we all like the websites such as Mangahigh and Sumdog. We have been working on how to make movies and how to post videos on to Youtube. Throughout the Year I’ve been at Tautoro School and I myself have noticed that I have been learning a lot.

There are a lot of great and unimaginable things that you could do action on the Chromebook. We like sharing our work and we like to know how the piece of writing we have been doing.

Today not many schools are e-learning schools, only a selected few are e-learning. E-learning is helping our school a lot and we encourage that.

Tautoro school can access most things other schools can’t like documents. Its a privilege to have digital tool because it faster funner and has better things on it.
